Aufricht Family Fund Student Award
About this award
Get $4,000 to $5,000 for your first year at UCalgary or SAIT — apply by May 30, 2026.
You can receive one or more awards valued at $4,000 to $5,000. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student from a Calgary school who has led others in your community but needs financial help to afford university or college. You must apply by May 30, 2026. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Calgary Foundation how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. The money is applied directly to your tuition. Confirm with Calgary Foundation if there are any other specific payment schedules you should know about. You can keep this award for three years of consecutive study. To renew it, you must maintain a full-time course load and a cumulative GPA (Grade Point Average — the average of all your final grades) greater than or equal to 2.0.

More details
The biggest mistake is listing a dozen clubs without explaining your impact.
Winners instead describe one or two specific projects where they led a team to a result.
List exactly what you changed or built in your community.
Many students pick a teacher who knows them well but writes a generic letter.
Winners ask referees to provide specific examples of their leadership and character.
Give your referee a bulleted list of your achievements to help them write a stronger letter.
