About this award
Get $2,500 for your Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree if you focus on rural large animal or mixed practice — apply by June 1, 2026.
You can receive one or more awards valued at $2,500. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a future vet dedicated to helping animals in rural communities and have a history of leading others in school or sports. You must apply by June 1, 2026. When you apply, ask Calgary Foundation how and when you will hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through their portal. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Calgary Foundation how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. The money is applied directly to your tuition. Confirm with Calgary Foundation if there are any specific steps you need to take to ensure the funds reach your school account. You can keep this award for up to three consecutive years of study as long as you maintain eligibility, giving you up to four years of support total. Confirm with Calgary Foundation exactly what grades or status you need to maintain to keep the funding.
