About this award

Get a $5,000 bursary and a 4-month paid summer internship if you are an Indigenous student studying engineering, environmental science, or biology — apply by August 1, November 1, or February 1.

You get a $5,000 bursary. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. You also get the chance to take a 4-month paid summer internship at 1 of 8 offices located across Canada. This is for you if you identify as Indigenous and are pursuing a career in the technical fields that protect and build our environment. You have three different deadlines to choose from: August 1, November 1, and February 1. When you apply, ask Indspire (the organization that manages this funding) how and when you will hear back about your application. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Jacobs Engineering how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask Jacobs Engineering during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Jacobs Engineering whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
