About this award

This page lists several Indspire-funded bursaries, scholarships, and awards at the University of Alberta for Indigenous students. They span undergraduate and graduate study in the Faculties of Arts, Education, Native Studies, the Alberta School of Business, Medicine & Dentistry, and Kinesiology, Sport & Recreation. Indspire is a national Indigenous charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people. The page does not state a dollar amount for most of these awards. The one with a listed figure is the Indigenous Sport and Recreation Graduate Certificate Award, which pays $1,800 in September and $3,700 in January, for a total of $5,500, split into two installments tied to your confirmed continuation in the program. Selection depends on the specific award. You generally must be First Nation, Inuit, or Métis and enrolled in a qualifying faculty or program at the University of Alberta. Some awards require at least a 2.0 GPA in your faculty, demonstrated financial need, or a nomination from your faculty. You apply through Indspire's process, and the listed deadlines fall on August 1, November 1, or February 1.
