You get a $500 entrance bursary. This is a grant, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a new student starting your first year of a full-time program and have a demonstrated financial need. Your deadlines depend on when you start. For a September 2026 start, you must confirm your admission by May 1, 2026, and apply for OSAP (the Ontario Student Assistance Program — the provincial and federal government's main student financial aid system) by June 15, 2026. For a January 2027 start, you must confirm your admission by December 1, 2026, and apply for OSAP by October 31, 2026. You will be notified if you receive the award one month before your studies begin. You are automatically considered for this bursary if you meet the deadlines and eligibility rules. Selection is based on your OSAP assessment showing at least $1 of need. Because it is automatic, there is no separate application form to fill out. The money is credited directly to your student account. Note that these funds are only applied after the last day for official withdrawal from your program. Ask Algonquin College if you have questions about how this affects your tuition balance. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Algonquin College whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
To get this bursary, you must be admitted to any full-time program of study at Algonquin College and start level 1 full-time in September 2026 or January 2027. You must be eligible for full-time OSAP (the Ontario Student Assistance Program — the provincial and federal government's main student financial aid system) and have an OSAP assessment showing at least $1 of need for your level 1 studies. You also need to follow all regular admission and enrolment policies, such as paying your deposit or deferring your fees.
