About this award

You can receive one of eight awards valued at $2,500 each. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. The money is applied directly to your tuition. Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be a Black Canadian citizen or permanent resident. You must be enrolled in full-time study and entering the second year or beyond of your first undergraduate degree or diploma program. Geographically, you must either be attending a Calgary post-secondary institution or have graduated from a high school in Airdrie, Diamond Valley, Calgary, Chestermere, Cochrane, High River, Okotoks, Springbank, or Strathmore while attending any Canadian post-secondary institution. Academically, you need a cumulative GPA (Grade Point Average — the average of all your final grades) greater than or equal to 2.7 or 70%. Finally, you must demonstrate financial need and show that you have been involved in your school and/or community.
