Canada Life + Lime Connect DevOps & Technology Internship & Scholarship Award

About this award

You receive a $5,000 CAD scholarship; in the 2026 round it covered the 2026–2027 academic year. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. Along with the money, you get a summer internship where you will work in-office 3 days a week focusing on Cloud Infrastructure and/or DevOps (Development and Operations — a set of practices that combines software development and IT operations to shorten the systems development life cycle). This is for you if you are a tech student with a disability who is passionate about automating infrastructure and driving agile innovation. Applications for the 2026 round are closed. 2026 was the award's third annual round, so check the award's official page for the next one; Lime Connect notifies registered Lime Network Members when applications for its other scholarships launch. In the 2026 round, letters of recommendation were due January 13th, finalists were interviewed in early February, and offers went out in mid-to-late February. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Lime Connect with Canada Life how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. All scholarship payments will be made directly to you to be used towards your tuition and education-related expenses. Confirm with Lime Connect with Canada Life during your application if there are any other specific payment schedules. You must be enrolled as a student for the academic year the scholarship covers (2026-2027 in the 2026 round) and keep meeting the eligibility requirements to keep the award. If you cannot use the funds immediately, you may defer your award for up to one (1) year on a case-by-case basis as determined by Canada Life.

Who qualifies

You must be a current undergraduate student enrolled at a university or college in Canada. You must also be continuing your studies or intend to be enrolled in a Canadian university or college during the academic year the scholarship covers (2026-2027 in the 2026 round). You need to be pursuing a Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree or certification, or another closely related technology program. You must identify as having a visible or invisible disability, which is defined as a long-term or recurring issue that impacts one or more major daily functions, or the perception that such a disability exists. Additionally, you must be available to work in Winnipeg, Toronto, or London, maintain strong academic performance, and show demonstrated leadership through formal or informal experience. This award is not open to current high school students.

Tips for applying

• EssayAvoid giving generic answers about technology. Instead, explain exactly what "Rebranding Disability through achievement" means to you personally and how your specific disability has impacted your life. Write a 1-2 page response that connects your personal journey to your interest in DevOps.
• ReferencesAvoid choosing a reference who barely knows your work. Instead, ask a professor, adviser, or supervisor who can speak to your leadership skills and passion for tech to write your letter. Ask early so they can meet the recommendation deadline, which was January 13th in the 2026 round.
