About this award

You can receive one or more awards valued at $1,500, which are applied directly to your tuition. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. Depending on how many years you have left in your program when you first get the award, it is renewable for up to one year of Journeyperson Certification study, giving you up to two years of support total. If you renew, you must do so within two calendar years of receiving the first award. This is for you if you are already working in a petroleum-focused role and want to complete your certification to build a long-term career in the energy industry. Who qualifies

You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. You need to be attending a Canadian post-secondary institution in the upcoming academic year (either the Fall or Winter term). Specifically, you must be entering the third or fourth year of study in a petroleum-focused Journeyperson Certification program (examples include Boilermaker, Crane and Hoisting Operator, Heavy Equipment Technician, Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Instrumentation and Control Technician, Ironworker, or Machinist). Additionally, you must be actively employed in a petroleum-focused role and intend to continue working in the petroleum industry after you finish your certification. Finally, you must show that you are involved and a leader in your school or community.
