About this award

You can receive a $2,000 Global Entrance Scholarship as a credit to your student account. If you are applying for a Bachelor program, you may also be eligible for a Degree Entrance Award valued between $500 and $3,000. For those confirming for the May 2026, September 2026, or January 2027 intakes in a program lasting two years or longer, you may qualify for an additional $1,000 in your second year before your fourth semester tuition is due. If you confirmed your offer between April 7 and July 13, 2025, the amounts differ: you get $1,500 for a one-year program, or $3,000 for a two-year or longer program (split as $1,500 in year one and $1,500 in year two). This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an international student—including those who are refugee claimants—moving to Canada or already here to start a full-time program. No specific application deadline is posted publicly because you qualify automatically by accepting your offer of admission. The $2,000 is credited to your student account when you accept your offer. If you qualify for the extra $1,000, it is awarded in Year 2, before Semester 4 tuition is due. (If you confirmed your offer between April 7 and July 13, 2025, your payments follow the earlier dates on the award's official page.) You automatically qualify for this award simply by accepting your offer of admission to a full-time program. Selection is not based on a competitive application process but on meeting the eligibility and admission criteria. The money is credited directly to your student account. If the scholarship creates an overpayment of your fees, Durham College will automatically apply the extra funds to your fees for the next semester. To keep your scholarship, you must provide your Social Insurance Number (SIN) on MyDC (the Durham College student portal) before your second semester in Canada begins. You will lose the second installment if you take an unscheduled gap between semesters or if you transfer programs before finishing your initial program of study.

Who qualifies

You are eligible if you are an international applicant, located either inside or outside of Canada, who applies to a full-time program at Durham College and pays international fees. This includes international applicants who are refugee claimants. You also qualify if you have already completed one program at Durham College and are now beginning a new one.
