About this award

You can receive a $3,500 scholarship. This is a grant, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. There is only 1 scholarship available. This is for you if you have finished your first year of school and have a strong record of volunteering in your community and a clear plan for your future. You must apply by June 11, 2027. The application window opens on February 25, 2027. When you apply, ask Graybar Canada (through the Electro-Federation Canada scholarship program) how and when you will be notified of the results. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Graybar Canada (through the Electro-Federation Canada scholarship program) how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Note that the winner may also be considered for a summer or permanent job with Graybar Canada. Ask Graybar Canada (through the Electro-Federation Canada scholarship program) during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Graybar Canada (through the Electro-Federation Canada scholarship program) whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must have completed your first year of post-secondary education in a business program, general arts, IT, or a discipline related to the electrical industry. You must have maintained a minimum cumulative average of at least 80%. You must be attending a college or university in a province where Graybar Canada operates a branch, though this excludes students in Manitoba or Saskatchewan.

Tips for applying

Community ServiceAvoid just listing the organizations where you volunteered. Instead, describe the impact you made and how it shaped your vision for the future. Write about one specific project where your help changed something.
StrategyAvoid focusing only on your grades. Instead, balance your 80% average with stories about your community involvement. Show the committee that you are both academically capable and community-minded.
RealismAvoid overlooking the fact that only 1 scholarship is available. Instead, treat this as a high-reach goal while applying for other awards. Diversify your applications to increase your chances of funding.
