About this award

Two scholarships of $5,000 each are awarded every year. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are entering the fourth year of the five-year HBA/BESc dual degree (Ivey Business School and Western Engineering). You must apply between September 4th and September 30th, 2026. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. The scholarships go to the students with the highest overall average in the courses taken in HBA 1 and Engineering 1, plus Business 2257. If you have been selected for another scholarship worth $5,000 or more a year that is only for HBA/BESc students, you cannot also receive this one. Ask Western University - Ivey Business School / Faculty of Engineering during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Western University - Ivey Business School / Faculty of Engineering whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be entering the fourth year of the five-year HBA/BESc dual degree program and be currently registered in the Faculty of Engineering to apply. You are not eligible if you are currently on a long-term co-op placement or completing your Ivey/Law year. Western Engineering requires at least an 80% year weighted average in the previous year for merit-based awards, and this one goes to the students with the highest average in HBA 1 and Engineering 1 courses plus Business 2257.

Tips for applying

  • BiographyAvoid writing a generic summary of your grades. Instead, highlight the specific experiences that make you a strong fit for a dual degree in business and engineering. Draft a clean PDF bio that you can reuse for other awards.
  • SupportAvoid sending your documents to the engugrad email address. Instead, upload everything directly to the AwardSpring portal. Check your Western email regularly for login alerts.
  • StrategyAvoid waiting until the final day to log in. Instead, sign in to AwardSpring early to see which awards appear on your dashboard. If this scholarship is missing, email weawards@uwo.ca immediately to fix the match.
  • RealismAvoid assuming that meeting the minimum average is enough. Instead, remember that only the two students with the highest average in HBA 1, Engineering 1 and Business 2257 receive it, and some advertised awards are not offered every year. Treat this as one part of your overall financial plan.
