About this award

You can receive up to $1,324.64. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. This is for you if you are an undergraduate student in any program or year who self-identifies as Black, Indigenous, or racialized. You must apply by November 9, 2026. When you apply, ask OCAD University how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the portal. OCAD University says its bursaries are given out based on financial need and the number of students who apply. Ask OCAD University's financial aid office how many students usually apply, so you can judge your odds. Ask OCAD University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with OCAD University whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time in any program or year at OCAD University. To qualify, you must self-identify as Black, Indigenous, or racialized. You are also required to demonstrate financial need through OSAP (the Ontario Student Assistance Program — the provincial and federal government's financial aid system for students).

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

Tips for applying

  • Financial NeedAvoid simply stating you need money. Instead, ensure your OSAP (the Ontario Student Assistance Program — the provincial and federal government's financial aid system for students) application is up to date and reflects your current situation. Check your latest assessment notice for accuracy.
  • StrategyAvoid waiting until the last minute to access the portal. Instead, create your account on the AwardSpring scholarship portal early to ensure you have time to troubleshoot any login issues. Log in at least a week before the November deadline.
  • RealismAvoid assuming this award will cover all your costs. Instead, remember that this bursary is intended to supplement your other funding sources. Plan your budget using this as a top-up rather than your primary source of tuition.
