The Manitoba Bursary is a non-repayable bursary administered through Manitoba Student Aid (MSA). Critically, there is no separate application form — the Manitoba Bursary is auto-assessed when you apply for the integrated Manitoba Student Aid loan + grant package. If you qualify, the bursary amount is folded into your MSA award package. Specific per-student amounts are not posted on the public landing page; the total program supported approximately 11,500 students with $17.3M in 2020-21 (rough implied average ~$1,500, but verify your individual award via your MSA application). A T4A is issued by MSA when the bursary amount exceeds $500. A specific provision: self-identified Indigenous learners receive an additional Manitoba Bursary top-up on top of the standard bursary. The program covers undergraduate, college, graduate, and trades students at MSA-eligible designated post-secondary institutions in Manitoba or elsewhere in Canada.
You qualify for the Manitoba Bursary if you (1) are a Manitoba resident under MSA's 12-month residency rule; (2) are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person; (3) are enrolled in (or accepted to) an MSA-eligible program at a designated post-secondary institution; (4) are loan-eligible per the MSA application's needs assessment. Self-identified Indigenous learners qualify for an additional top-up beyond the standard bursary amount.
