Tips for applying

  • LeadershipAvoid just listing the titles of the clubs you joined. Instead, describe a specific time your leadership led to a real result for your team or community. Give a concrete example of a project you managed.
  • RefereesAvoid choosing references who only know you as a student in a classroom. Instead, pick people who can speak to your character and volunteer work outside of school. Contact your referees early to ensure they meet the February 21 deadline.
  • StrategyAvoid leaving the optional special circumstances section blank if you have faced significant hurdles. Instead, use that space to explain how those challenges shaped your drive to succeed in engineering. Be honest and direct about your experience.
  • RealismAvoid assuming that a 90% average is enough to win, since only one is available. Instead, focus on making your extra-curricular and leadership evidence as strong as possible. Treat this as one part of a broader financial plan for university.
