About this award

You can receive a one-time payment of up to $5,000 per student. Individual bursaries range in value from $500 to $5,000, and this is a grant, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an OCAD University student facing sudden financial difficulties beyond your control and need short-term assistance. You must apply by November 9, 2026. When you apply, ask OCAD University how and when you'll hear back — whether by email, the portal, or phone. Selection is based on your financial need and the total number of students who apply. Selection criteria aren't published — ask OCAD University how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask OCAD University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow.

Who qualifies

You must be a student at OCAD University experiencing financial difficulties beyond your control. Before you apply, you are expected to have already used your provincial student loan and grant programs, as well as all your personal income sources and savings. Domestic students should note that this is for short-term, one-time emergencies rather than ongoing support. International students experiencing a financial emergency should contact International Student Services at international@ocadu.ca for assistance.
