About this award

You can receive up to $5,000 per student for this bursary. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. Other bursaries at the school range in value from $500 to $5,000. This is for you if you are balancing your education with other commitments and are registered as a part-time student. You must apply by November 9, 2026. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, the portal, or phone. OCAD University says its bursaries are given out based on financial need and the number of students who apply. Ask OCAD University's financial aid office how many students usually apply, so you can judge your odds. Ask OCAD University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with OCAD University whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be enrolled at OCAD University. You must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or a protected person (someone with refugee or protected-person status in Canada). Additionally, you must be registered part-time and receiving one of the following: part-time OSAP (the Ontario Student Assistance Program — the provincial government's financial aid for students), out-of-province student aid, or indigenous band funding.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

Tips for applying

  • Financial NeedAvoid providing vague descriptions of your situation. Instead, give clear details about your current costs and income. Gather your latest bank statements and OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) notices before you start.
  • StrategyAvoid waiting until the November deadline to submit. Instead, complete your profile in the AwardSpring portal early. This ensures you have time to fix any technical errors with your uploads.
  • RealismAvoid assuming the full $5,000 is guaranteed. Instead, remember that the amount depends on the total number of applicants and their shared financial need. Plan your budget around a smaller amount just in case.
