About this award

You will receive $856.00. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a graduate student in the faculty of Engineering who already holds an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and has a strong record of community service or leadership. You must apply by February 2, 2027. When you apply, ask Lakehead University how and when you will hear back — whether by email, phone, or through the awards portal. The Faculty of Engineering reviews applications based on your financial need and leadership experience, then forwards their selection to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Lakehead University how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask Lakehead University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you are counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Lakehead University whether it is a one-time award or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Tips for applying

• Community LeadershipAvoid just listing the titles of the clubs you joined. Instead, describe one specific time your leadership helped others or improved a project. Give a concrete example of a result you achieved.
• StrategyAvoid leaving your General Application incomplete. Since you are automatically considered based on that form, ensure every section regarding your financial need and volunteer work is fully detailed.
• RealismAvoid assuming this is a guaranteed award. Because it depends on financial need and specific degree requirements, treat this as one part of a larger funding plan and continue looking for other bursaries.
