About this award

You can receive $10,000 from this award. There are 2 awards available in total. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an Indigenous student (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) who has balanced strong grades with meaningful work in your community. You must submit your completed application and supporting documents by June 1 annually. When you apply, ask the University of Toronto (First Nations House) how and when you will hear back about your status. Selection is based on your academic achievement and your previous or intended contributions to the Indigenous community. Selection criteria aren't published in detail, so ask University of Toronto (First Nations House) how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask University of Toronto (First Nations House) during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with University of Toronto (First Nations House) whether it's a one-time award or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be an Indigenous student (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit). To qualify, you must be studying full-time and involved in course work. You will be evaluated on your academic achievement and your previous or intended contributions to the Indigenous community.
