About this award

You receive a $50,000 scholarship, which is a grant you do not have to pay back. This non-renewable award is paid out in two instalments over two years. Along with the money, you get access to a leadership program with two one-week sessions in Montreal, mentoring, and a community of women in engineering. This is for you if you are a woman finishing your engineering degree and you want to lead and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. The 2026 round is closed: it opened April 2, 2026 and closed May 20, 2026, and each university set an earlier deadline for its own students (April 27, 2026 at Polytechnique Montréal). Watch the award's official page for the next round, and ask your university's scholarship office for its internal deadline. In 2026, a nationwide committee reviewed the preselected files in June and interviewed finalists in September. Your home university first preselects up to three candidates to move forward. Then, a national committee reviews those files, and finalists must complete an interview. Selection is based on your academic record, technical achievements, and social engagement. Ask Polytechnique Montréal during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. This award is non-renewable: the $50,000 is paid in two instalments over two years.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must identify as a woman and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. You must be a graduating student in an engineering program at a Canadian university who completed your bachelor's degree in December 2025 or will complete it in May or August 2026 (these were the dates for the 2026 round). You must also be enrolled, or in the process of enrolling, in a graduate studies program in engineering (master's or PhD) to begin the year after your bachelor's degree. If your life path prevented you from starting graduate studies immediately, contact Polytechnique Montréal to see if you still qualify. Finally, you must have maintained a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 or the equivalent.

Tips for applying

  • LeadershipAvoid just listing the titles of the clubs you joined. Instead, describe the concrete impact your involvement had on your community or other people. Give a specific example of a time your leadership changed a result.
  • SupportAvoid asking for a generic letter of recommendation. Instead, ask your referee to specifically attest to your volunteer achievements and the roles you took on. Provide them with a list of your contributions to help them write a detailed letter.
  • StrategyAvoid focusing only on your grades. Instead, highlight your technical achievements and research projects alongside your social and cultural engagement. Show that you are a leader who cares about global issues and supporting other women.
  • RealismAvoid assuming your application goes straight to the national committee. Instead, remember that your home university must preselect you first and can only send up to three candidates. Build a strong relationship with your faculty's scholarship office to ensure your file is noticed during the internal round.
