You are considered for funding once your Employment Plan is complete and you have sent in all the required documents. To qualify, you must be a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador upon commencement of the training program. You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident entitled to work in Canada, or a Government Assisted Refugee. If you are a temporary resident with a 900 series Social Insurance Number (SIN — the government ID needed for employment) on a work permit, you may be eligible for training of less than six months if your permit allows training and your employment is not disrupted. You must be unemployed or precariously employed and cannot have been registered as a full-time student at an educational institution during the present or within the last two years. You must also meet the entrance and language requirements of your chosen post-secondary program. The training must be full-time at a public or private training institution in Newfoundland and Labrador, lead to a diploma or degree, and be between 12 weeks (minimum) and three years (maximum) in duration.
