About this award

You can receive $12,500. Engineers Canada gives three of these scholarships each year. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay, and you can hold other grants or awards at the same time. This is for you if you are already a licensed engineer in Canada and you are going back to university full-time for further study or research in an engineering field. Your university can be in Canada or abroad. Nominations are closed right now. Engineers Canada says the nomination period for the upcoming year will open in the fall of 2026 — check the award's official page for the deadline once it opens. All applicants, successful or not, hear the Awards Committee's decision in writing by August. The Engineers Canada Awards Committee scores each nomination on academic achievements (15 points), the impact and benefit of your area of study (30 points), your previous experience (25 points) and your motivation (30 points). Late or incomplete nomination packages are not considered, and anything over the character, word or page limits is ignored. Payment depends on written confirmation of your enrolment from the university you attend. The notification letter explains the details of your scholarship. You can receive this scholarship only once — you are not eligible if you have already received it or the Engineers Canada-TD Meloche-Monnex Scholarship — and you can apply in only one Engineers Canada scholarship category per year.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada and be registered in good standing as an engineer or acceptable limited licence holder with one of Canada's engineering regulators. You must be accepted or registered full-time in a Faculty of Engineering, for further study or research in an engineering field, for at least two full-time semesters between September 2027 and August 2028. Post-doctoral fellows are not eligible, and you cannot have received this scholarship or the Engineers Canada-TD Meloche-Monnex Scholarship before.
