About this award

Depending on your program, you can receive significant tuition support. For a 4-year degree program, you may receive an initial $5,000 tuition payment, plus $5,000 per academic term for the duration of your program, totaling up to $40,000. For a 3-year advanced diploma program, you may receive an initial $2,500 tuition payment, plus $2,500 per academic term, totaling up to $15,000. For a 2-year diploma program, you may receive an initial $2,500 tuition payment, plus $2,500 per academic term, totaling up to $10,000. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an aspiring leader who wants to build a career in business, information technology, or nursing and is interested in working in the public sector. Applications for fall 2026 are closed. No future deadline is posted publicly — before you start your next application, check the Fanshawe College / WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) program page or call their office to confirm when applications open and close for the next year. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — whether by email, phone, or the student portal. To be considered, you need an admission average of 70% or above, a written answer (500 words maximum) on how your character is in keeping with WSIB's corporate values of accountability, collaboration, empathy and integrity, and a willingness to take part in a co-op where your program has one. For the 2026/27 year the official page lists 6 scholarships for 4-year degree programs, 10 for 3-year advanced diploma programs and 10 for 2-year diploma programs. The money is paid as tuition payments: an initial payment, then one payment each academic term. To keep this scholarship, you must maintain a 3.0 GPA, show an interest in a career in the public sector, and demonstrate ongoing leadership during your course of study.

Who qualifies

You must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a protected person/refugee. You must be enrolling full time in the first term of an eligible business, IT, or nursing program starting in fall 2026. You must have an admission average of 70% or above upon application. You must also be willing to participate in a co-op (where applicable). Eligible programs include various Business diplomas and degrees, Practical Nursing, and several IT diplomas such as Computer Systems Technician, Web Development, Computer Programming and Analysis, Computer Systems Technology, and Cyber Security.
