About this award

Depending on your admissions score, you can receive a renewable scholarship every year for up to 4 years. If your score is 95+, you get $2,500 per year ($10,000 total); for 90-94.9, you get $2,000 per year ($8,000 total); for 85-89.9, you get $1,500 per year ($6,000 total); and for 80-84.9, you get $1,000 per year ($4,000 total). This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student entering an eligible full-time degree program in Arts, Design & Information Technology, Business, Community Services & Early Childhood, Construction & Engineering Technologies, Health Sciences, or Hospitality & Culinary Arts. Degree bridges (advanced standing) are not eligible. No specific application deadline is posted publicly because these awards are based on your admission. However, you must accept your offer and pay your tuition deposit by the dates listed in your offer letter to receive the funds. You will hear back from the Admissions department regarding your eligibility based on your admission score. Your eligibility is assessed automatically by the Admissions department using the grades they used to calculate your admission score. There is no separate application form to fill out. Because these are based on academic scores, the number of winners depends on how many students meet the minimum 80% (or 80-point) threshold. The official page says the renewed funding goes towards your tuition in future years; ask George Brown how and when the first-year amount is paid. To keep this scholarship for future years, you must remain enrolled full-time and maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.7 (80%) in your program.

Who qualifies

You must be accepted into an eligible full-time degree program at George Brown College in Arts, Design & Information Technology, Business, Community Services & Early Childhood (the C302 Honours Bachelor of Interpretation or the C305 Bachelor of Early Childhood Education), Construction & Engineering Technologies, Health Sciences, or Hospitality & Culinary Arts. Certain degrees and degree bridges (advanced standing) are not eligible. You must meet the eligibility requirements at the time of your initial application and again on Day 10 of your first term. You must be registered in and complete a full-time course load. If you have a conditional offer of admission, you must meet all conditions in your offer letter or the scholarship may be revoked.
