About this award

You can receive a $4,000 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a Mi’kmaw, First Nations, Métis, or Inuit student who lives in Atlantic Canada and has a passion for water resources. You must apply by October 23, 2026. When you apply, ask Nova Scotia Community College (funded by Halifax Water) how and when you will hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the student portal. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Nova Scotia Community College (funded by Halifax Water) how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask Nova Scotia Community College (funded by Halifax Water) during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. This award is renewable for students in multi-year programs. To keep it, you must successfully complete your first year in the program and remain in good academic standing. Confirm with Nova Scotia Community College (funded by Halifax Water) if there are any other specific requirements to maintain the funding.
