About this award

You can receive a $750.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you balance your studies with a strong commitment to helping others through community projects or staying active in varsity or intramural sports. You must apply by November 1, 2026. When you apply, ask Nipissing University how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, the portal, or phone. Ask Nipissing University how many students usually apply, so you can judge your odds. Ask Nipissing University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Nipissing University whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be a full-time or part-time student at Nipissing University. To qualify, you need to maintain a solid academic record with a minimum 75% average. You must also meet one of these two criteria: actively volunteer in community projects or be involved in varsity or intramural athletics at the university. A preference is given to students who promote community volunteerism. Finally, you must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP (the Ontario Student Assistance Program — the provincial office that manages student loans and grants).

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

Tips for applying

  • Community LeadershipAvoid just listing the organizations where you volunteered. Instead, describe the specific impact your work had on the project. List one concrete result of your volunteering in your application.
  • SupportAvoid providing vague references. Instead, ask a coach or project lead to describe your reliability and leadership. Get a signed letter from someone who saw your work firsthand.
  • StrategyAvoid ignoring the preference for volunteerism if you are primarily an athlete. Instead, highlight any ways you have encouraged other students to get involved in the community. Mention specific events you helped organize.
  • RealismAvoid assuming the General Application is enough to guarantee a win. Instead, ensure your profile is fully updated with your latest grades and activity logs. Double-check that your OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) status is current.
