About this award

You can receive up to approximately $21,500 over four years of study. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student from a Toronto high school who also faces financial hurdles while pursuing a degree in the humanities. You apply by completing U of T's Awards Profile, which opens in the Join U of T applicant portal after you apply to U of T. The Awards Profile deadline is typically in early February; the 2026 deadline has passed, so check the portal for next year's date. The award is given on the basis of academic merit and financial need — ask University of Toronto (Faculty of Arts & Science) roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. The money is applied to your student account once your full-time registration is confirmed, typically by mid-October. It is renewable for three more years if you stay enrolled full-time in an Arts program at the St. George campus and keep an annual GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Who qualifies

You must be a domestic student, which means you are a Canadian citizen, an Indigenous person recognized as First Nations (status or non-status), Métis or Inuit, a permanent resident, or a protected person (convention refugee) in Canada. You must also be a graduate of a Toronto high school, show academic merit and financial need, and be admitted to the Humanities admission category. To submit the Awards Profile, you must be in your final year of high school, and the award is only for full-time study in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the St. George campus.
