About this award

You can receive $800.00. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a mature student starting your first degree without previous post-secondary experience, or a transfer student moving from another accredited college or university. You must apply by November 1, 2026. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. You are automatically considered for this award based on your completed General Application. Ask Nipissing University how many students usually apply, so you can judge your odds. Ask Nipissing University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Nipissing University whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must register in a full-time undergraduate studies program at Nipissing University for your first degree. If you are a Mature student (meaning you have no previous post-secondary experience), the award is based on your financial need. If you are a transfer student, the award is based on your full-time academic performance in your most recent year of post-secondary studies. Your previous studies must have been in an academic program at an accredited Community College or University. Note that you do not need to have completed your prior post-secondary studies to be eligible as a transfer student.

Tips for applying

  • Financial NeedAvoid providing vague descriptions of your situation. Instead, use specific numbers to show why you need this funding. List your monthly expenses and any gaps in your tuition coverage.
  • StrategyAvoid leaving the General Application incomplete. Instead, fill out every optional field in the Nipissing University awards portal. Since you are automatically considered, the more detail you provide, the easier it is for the committee to match you to this award.
  • RealismAvoid assuming this award will cover your entire tuition gap. Instead, treat this $800 as a supplement to other grants and loans. Apply for multiple bursaries to build a complete financial plan for your first year.
