About this award

You can receive $825.00. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are pursuing a career in social services and have a demonstrated financial need. You must apply by November 1, 2026. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, the portal, or phone. You are automatically considered for this award based on your completed General Application. Ask Nipissing University how many students usually apply, so you can judge your odds. Ask Nipissing University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Nipissing University whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be a full time second, third or fourth year student majoring in Social Welfare or Social Work. You need a minimum 70% average and must demonstrate financial need. Additionally, you must be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP (the Ontario Student Assistance Program — the provincial office that manages student loans and grants).

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

Tips for applying

• Financial NeedAvoid providing vague statements about your expenses. Instead, give specific examples of how the $825 will reduce your financial stress this term. List your primary monthly costs clearly.
• StrategyAvoid leaving your General Application incomplete. Since you are automatically considered based on that form, ensure every optional field is filled out to show your full profile. Double-check your OSAP residency status before submitting.
• RealismAvoid assuming this award is guaranteed just because you meet the 70% average. Because it requires demonstrated financial need, competition may be high among students in your program. Apply for multiple bursaries to increase your chances.
