About this award

You can receive a $600.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a student who spends your time volunteering and helping others within your campus or local city. You must apply by November 1, 2026. When you apply, ask Nipissing University how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, the portal, or phone. Ask Nipissing University how many students usually apply, so you can judge your odds. Ask Nipissing University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Nipissing University whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be a full-time or part-time Nipissing student who is actively engaged in service to Nipissing University and the North Bay community. While both are eligible, a preference is given to those serving the North Bay community. You must also demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP (the Ontario Student Assistance Program — the provincial office that manages student loans and grants). You cannot apply if you are a current member of the Student Union Executive.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

  • Open to post-secondary students
  • Resident of Ontario

How to apply

  1. Read the award's official page

Check you meet every requirement, and note each document they ask for.

  2. Submit your application

Save a copy, and submit at least a day before the deadline shown above.

Tips for applying

  • Community ServiceAvoid just listing the organizations where you volunteered. Instead, describe how your work upheld the mandate of servicing the university community. Give a specific example of a project you led or supported.
  • SupportAvoid submitting a generic application. Instead, ensure your General Application clearly highlights your engagement in North Bay. Mention specific local landmarks or groups you worked with.
  • StrategyAvoid waiting until the last minute to complete your profile. Since you are automatically considered based on your General Application, make sure every section of your profile is updated and detailed before November 1.
  • RealismAvoid assuming this award is guaranteed if you meet the basic bars. Because it requires both academic proficiency and demonstrated financial need, treat this as a supplement to your main funding plan.
