You can receive a total of $10,000. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. The money is paid in three parts: a first installment of $3,400 after September 7 in the fall term, a second installment of $3,400 at the end of April, and a final installment of $3,200 at the end of May. This is for you if you are a new student starting a Master of Public Health (MPH — a professional degree in public health) and you are passionate about specializing in Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC). There is no separate scholarship application or deadline — only your MPH online admission application is considered, so apply to the MPH by its admission deadline and answer "Yes" to the IPAC Specialization question. You will hear back through the university's admissions process. The IPAC Canada Scholarship Review Committee chooses winners based on your academic performance, the strength of your equity statement, and how well you communicate the meaning of IPAC competencies using personal examples. One $10,000 scholarship is awarded for every 15 students who are newly accepted into the MPH IPAC Specialization in an academic year, up to a maximum of 10 IPAC Canada Scholarships per academic year. If fewer than 15 students are accepted, Queen's University is not obligated to offer the scholarship. Ask Queen's University and IPAC Canada during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. You must maintain continuous full-time enrollment in the MPH IPAC Specialization for the duration of the award. To get the second payment, you must successfully complete two IPAC elective courses, and for the final payment, you must have started an IPAC-focused practicum (a supervised practical training period). Note that if you do not successfully complete all MPH IPAC Specialization requirements, you may be required to return any funds you have already received.
You must be a domestic or international student newly accepted into the Master of Public Health (MPH) program, specifically either the 16-month MPH or the 12-month Accelerated MPH for Experienced Professionals. You must also answer "Yes" to the question asking if you are applying to the MPH with Specialization in Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC Specialization) on your online admission application.
