About this award

You can receive a $1,000 award. This is a grant, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. It is available annually. This is for you if you are a first-year student in the Application Development and Delivery program who is facing financial challenges. You must apply by January 31st. When you apply, ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) how and when you will hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the student portal. Selection is based on financial need. Since the specific number of winners isn't published, ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) how many students typically receive this award so you can judge your odds. Ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you are counting on this for multiple years, confirm with RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) whether it is a one-time award or if you can apply again in your second year.

• Financial NeedAvoid giving a vague description of your situation. Instead, provide a clear breakdown of your monthly expenses and income gaps. List your specific costs for books, rent, and transit.
• StrategyAvoid forgetting to specify the award name. Instead, clearly write "Ricoh Canada Award for First-Year Application Development and Delivery Students" on your general application. This ensures the committee knows exactly which fund to consider you for.
• RealismAvoid assuming this is guaranteed just because you meet the GPA or Grade 12 requirements. Instead, remember that selection is based on financial need, which means you are competing with other students in similar situations.
