About this award

You can receive $850.00. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a science student who balances your academic workload with a deep passion for the arts or sports. You must apply by November 1, 2026. When you apply, ask Nipissing University how and when you will hear back — whether it is by email, the portal, or phone. You are automatically considered for this award based on your completed General Application. Ask Nipissing University how many students usually apply, so you can judge your odds. Ask Nipissing University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Nipissing University whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be a full-time, upper year student registered in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) program at Nipissing University. You must show significant, committed involvement in either the arts (including music, drama, or visual arts) or athletics (including varsity or intramural sports) while studying at the university. You must maintain good academic standing with a minimum of 70% overall average and demonstrate financial need. Finally, you must be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP (the Ontario Student Assistance Program — the provincial office that manages student loans and grants).

How to apply

  1. Read the award's official page

Check you meet every requirement, and note each document they ask for.

  2. Submit your application

Save a copy, and submit at least a day before the deadline shown above.

Tips for applying

  • Arts and AthleticsAvoid just listing the clubs you joined. Instead, describe the specific impact of your committed involvement in music, drama, visual arts, or sports. Mention a specific project or team achievement you led.
  • StrategyAvoid leaving your General Application incomplete. Since you are automatically considered based on that form, ensure every section regarding your extracurriculars and financial need is fully detailed.
  • RealismAvoid assuming the 70% average is the only bar. Because you must also demonstrate financial need and specific arts or athletic involvement, treat this as a targeted award rather than a general merit scholarship.
