About this award

You can receive an award of up to $10,000. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an international student who balances strong grades with leadership in community service, intercultural understanding, or artistic and athletic pursuits. You must submit your application online by Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:59 pm PT. When you apply, ask University of British Columbia how and when you'll hear back — whether by email, portal, or phone. UBC looks for leadership in community service, international engagement, intercultural understanding, promotion of diversity, intellectual, artistic or athletic pursuits, or other campus activities. It does not publish how many awards it gives each year. Ask University of British Columbia during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with University of British Columbia whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be a continuing international student in a four-year undergraduate degree program at UBC’s Vancouver campus. You must be studying on a Canadian study permit and paying international undergraduate tuition and fees. Additionally, you must have been registered at the Vancouver campus for the previous Winter Session and be registered for the current Winter Session. Students registered in a Go Global Program (a study abroad initiative) or Co-operative Education (a program combining classroom learning with paid work experience) are also eligible to apply. Note that if your citizenship status or tuition fee rate changes, it will affect your eligibility and may result in the university recovering the award funding.
