You can receive a $1,000 scholarship to help with your education. This is a grant, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are the child of a full-time employee at a company that is a member in good standing of the AIA (the Automotive Industries Association of Canada — the national body representing the automotive aftermarket). It is open to you regardless of your chosen field of study. You must apply between June 30 and September 30 of each year. No specific notification date is posted publicly — when you apply, ask AIA High Fives for Kids Foundation (Automotive Industries Association of Canada) how and when you will hear back. Winners are selected based on your academic achievement, skills, extra-curricular involvement, or special abilities. Selection criteria aren't published in detail — ask AIA High Fives for Kids Foundation (Automotive Industries Association of Canada) how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask AIA High Fives for Kids Foundation (Automotive Industries Association of Canada) during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with AIA High Fives for Kids Foundation (Automotive Industries Association of Canada) whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
To qualify, you must be the child of a full-time employee at an active Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA Canada) member company in good standing. The company must have paid its membership dues for the current year for you to be eligible. You must also be enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program leading to a certificate or diploma at an accredited university, college or technical school. This award is open to you regardless of your chosen field of study.
