BC Access Grant - Part-Time

About this award

You can receive up to $1,000 a year. This is a grant, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a low- or middle-income student attending a B.C. public post-secondary institution while studying part-time. This grant has no application or deadline of its own. Check StudentAid BC for when to submit your part-time student aid application for your study period. You are assessed automatically when you apply for part-time student aid, so there is no separate selection committee to track. The money reaches you via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT — a direct bank deposit) through the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC — the office that manages your federal student loan). If your study period is 17 weeks or less, you get 100% of the money at the start. If your study period is longer than 17 weeks, you get half at the start and half at the midpoint. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with StudentAid BC whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be enrolled as a part-time student in an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate program at a B.C. public post-secondary institution. You are not eligible if you are in a Master's or PhD program, or enrolled in unclassified studies. You must apply and qualify for part-time StudentAid BC financial assistance and have remaining financial need after federal funding is awarded. Your eligibility depends on your previous year's annual gross family income: - Family size 1: Maximum grant if income is below $38,474; no grant if $55,981 or above. - Family size 2: Maximum grant if income is below $54,412; no grant if $78,637 or above. - Family size 3: Maximum grant if income is below $66,641; no grant if $94,794 or above. - Family size 4: Maximum grant if income is below $76,952; no grant if $106,295 or above. - Family size 5: Maximum grant if income is below $86,033; no grant if $116,670 or above. - Family size 6: Maximum grant if income is below $94,245; no grant if $126,296 or above. - Family size 7+: Maximum grant if income is below $101,797; no grant if $134,866 or above.
