About this award

You can receive a $500.00 bursary. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. This is for you if you are a mature learner returning to school to train as a paramedic. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the awards portal. Selection is based entirely on financial need, which carries a 100% weighting. There is only 1 award available, and you are automatically considered based on your completed General Application. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be enrolled full-time in either the Primary Care Paramedic Certificate program or the Advanced Care Paramedic Diploma program. You must be in Year 1 or Year 2 of your studies at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Regina campus or Saskatoon campus. Additionally, you must meet the definition of a mature student as set by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and demonstrate financial need.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

  • Financial NeedAvoid providing vague descriptions of your budget. Instead, list your specific monthly expenses and income gaps. Provide a clear breakdown of why this $500 would impact your ability to study.
  • SupportAvoid leaving your profile incomplete in the portal. Instead, ensure every optional field in your General Application is filled. Double-check that your campus location is correctly marked as Regina or Saskatoon.
  • StrategyAvoid waiting until the last minute to submit. Instead, complete your General Application early since this award considers you automatically. This ensures you don't miss the October 31, 2026 deadline due to technical glitches.
  • RealismAvoid expecting this as a guaranteed source of funding. Instead, remember that only 1 award is available for the entire program group. Apply for multiple bursaries to increase your chances of receiving aid.
