About this award

You can receive a $1,000.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a Saskatchewan resident pursuing your carpentry trade and want to be recognized for your academic success and community spirit. You must apply by June 15, 2027. When you apply, ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the awards portal. One award is available. Selection is based on a weighted system: 50% for your academic achievement, 30% for your financial need, and 20% for your involvement in the community. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be a resident of Saskatchewan and enrolled in the Carpenter Apprenticeship program, Level 4 at any Saskatchewan Polytechnic campus. Preference will be given first to female students, second to students of self-declared Indigenous Ancestry (which includes Indian, Metis, and Inuit), and third to Wright Construction Employees.

Tips for applying

• Community InvolvementAvoid giving a simple list of organizations where you volunteered. Instead, provide specific examples of how you were involved or helped others in your school or community. Describe one project where you took the lead.
• StrategyAvoid focusing only on your grades. Instead, balance your application by addressing all three weighted areas: academics, financial need, and community service. Ensure your examples of volunteering are as detailed as your academic record.
• RealismAvoid assuming this is a guaranteed fund since only 1 award is available. Instead, treat this as a competitive addition to your funding plan. Apply for other bursaries at Saskatchewan Polytechnic to increase your chances of support.
