About this award

$5,000 is available for this award. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. There is one award available per academic year. This is for you if you are a female student starting your journey in power engineering. If no eligible female students apply, the award is opened to Indigenous students as a second preference. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how and when you will hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through a student portal. Winners are chosen based on Academic Achievement, which makes up 100% of the selection weighting. Selection criteria aren't published in detail — ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how they evaluate academic standing and how many students typically apply so you can judge your odds. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, while others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. You can have this award renewed for Year 2 of the Power Engineering Technology Diploma program. To keep the funding for the second installment, you must have completed all program requirements in the year immediately before you apply for the continuation.

Who qualifies

You must be a female student enrolled full-time in the 1st year of the Power Engineering Technology Program (4th Class) and be in good academic standing. If there are no eligible female students, second preference will be given to Indigenous students.

  • SupportAvoid relying on a single generic character reference. Instead, ask a professor from your Power Engineering program to highlight your technical aptitude and reliability. Send them your current resume first so they have context.
  • StrategyAvoid waiting until the October 31 deadline to submit. Instead, prepare your application early to ensure your academic records are verified by the school. Set a personal deadline for one week before the official date.
  • RealismAvoid assuming the renewal is automatic. Instead, track your program requirements closely throughout Year 1. Make a checklist of every mandatory unit you must complete to remain eligible for the Year 2 installment.
