About this award

You can receive a $5,000.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a technical student who balances strong grades with a commitment to leading others or serving your community. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how and when you will hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through an application portal. Selection is based on a 50% weighting for financial need and a 50% weighting for academic achievement. There are 4 awards available. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how they review the written statements and how many students typically apply so you can judge your odds. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be enrolled full-time in the first or second year of one of these eligible programs: Chemical Technology, Instrumentation Engineering Technology, or Power Engineering Technology. Tips for applying

  • Written StatementAvoid writing a generic list of your hobbies. Instead, explain exactly how your actions match the core values of Cenovus Energy Inc. Read their "Our Purpose & Values" page and use specific examples from your life.
  • Community ServiceAvoid simply stating that you volunteered. Instead, describe the impact your leadership or engagement had on others. Mention the specific organization you helped and what you achieved.
