Fanshawe College Canerector Scholars Program (Skilled Trades)

What you will need

About this award

You can receive an initial $1,000 tuition payment, followed by $1,000 per academic term for the rest of your program, for a total of up to $7,000. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. Fanshawe College and the Canerector Foundation allocate $100,000 annually to support scholars in this program. This is for you if you are entering a skilled trade and have a strong interest in becoming a leader in your industry. Applications for fall 2026 are currently closed. No future deadline is posted publicly — before you start your next application, check the Fanshawe College program page or call their office to confirm when the next window opens. To be considered, you need an admission average of 70% or above and a written answer (500 words maximum) on why you are interested in a career in the skilled trades and what positive impact you hope to make in the industry. The money is paid as tuition payments: an initial $1,000, then $1,000 each academic term. To keep this scholarship, you must maintain a 3.0 GPA and show that you are participating in a mentorship activity throughout every level of your program.

Who qualifies

You must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a protected person/refugee. You must be enrolling full-time in the first term of an eligible skilled trade program starting in fall 2026. Additionally, you must have an admission average of 70% or above upon application. Eligible programs include certificates in Carpentry and Renovation Techniques (CRQ1), Plumbing Techniques (PLQ1), Trades Fundamentals (PRT2), and Welding Techniques (WTQ1J); diplomas in Carpentry and Renovation Technician (CRT1), Construction Engineering Technician (CEN2), Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician (MHT3W), and Welding and Fabrication Technician (WFT1); and advanced diplomas in Architectural Technology (ATY1), Building Renovation Technology (BRY1), Civil Engineering Technology (CEY2), and Construction Engineering Technology - Management (CMY3).
