About this award

You can receive $2,750. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. Two recipients will each receive this amount. This is for you if you are a developing artist focusing on your craft in the fine or performing arts. You must apply through the portal between April 2 and May 31 at 11:59 PM MT. You will hear back in mid-to-late July when the Yellowknife Community Foundation distributes the funding. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Yellowknife Community Foundation how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask Yellowknife Community Foundation during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Yellowknife Community Foundation whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be a resident of the Northwest Territories for at least twelve consecutive months. You must be pursuing education and training in drama, dance, music, theatre arts (including technical production), studio arts, film, or photography.
