What you will need

• ✓ The IBEW First District scholarship application form, listing your school, program and Local Union, signed by you and by the IBEW member in your family

• ✓ Send both by email to ivpd_01@ibew.org or by courier to the IBEW First District Office in Mississauga (not both); in the last round the deadline was 4:30 p.m. EST on February 6, 2026

About this award

You can receive one of ten (10) scholarships in the amount of $2,000.00 each. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers — the union representing electrical workers) member or a member of an IBEW member's family. The 2025-2026 round closed on February 6, 2026, and the ten winners were drawn on February 13, 2026. The round runs every year: IBEW Canada has posted the call in December, with a deadline in early February. Only winners are contacted. Winners are chosen by a random draw held at the First District Office. Since it is a lottery-style draw, your odds depend on the total number of qualified applicants, but only ten people will be selected. In the 2025-2026 round, 260 people applied. Ask International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) - First District Canada during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition.
