About this award

Values vary by award. The Memorial University of Newfoundland International Entrance Scholarship varies in value but does not exceed $6,000, and the IUGS Entrance Scholarship (St. John's campus) is valued at $6,000. As these are scholarships, not loans, you do not have to pay this money back. They are awarded for your first year of study and are non-renewable. This is for you if you are an international student moving to Canada for your undergraduate studies. There is no separate scholarship application or deadline: you are considered when you are admitted, and Memorial University will notify you if you are successful. Being considered does not mean you will receive one; awards are made as funding allows. For the International Entrance Scholarship you must pay the full international undergraduate fee, register for at least 9 credit hours in each of two semesters in your first year, and meet scholarship standing comparable to that required of Canadian applicants. If you receive one, ask Memorial University how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. These awards are for your first year of study and are non-renewable.
