What you will need

About this award

For domestic students starting in fall 2026, the amount depends on your early admission average: a one-time payment of $6,000 (for 98% and higher), $2,000 (for 95% - 97.9%), $1,000 (for 93% - 94.9%), $800 (for 90% - 92.9%), or $500 (for 85% - 89.9%). As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a high school student with strong grades in English, math, and science who is planning to start an undergraduate degree. Domestic students must apply for admission to Memorial University by March 1 of their graduation year to be considered. International students are reviewed automatically when they apply, though the process ends once the allocated funds are exhausted; check Memorial University's program page for the current end date. You will hear back from the university once your early acceptance is confirmed. Winners are chosen based on your early admission average, which uses your best grades from Grade 11 or 12 in English, math, and one science course. Because this is based on your early average, the amount is set when you get early acceptance and stays the same even if your final average is higher or lower. There is no separate application: the amount depends on which average band you are in. The money is applied directly to your university student account after you graduate high school and confirm your full-time registration as an undergraduate student for the 2026-27 year. This scholarship is not renewable. To get funding in your second year, you must achieve scholarship standing during your first year at Memorial University.

Who qualifies

You must be an incoming undergraduate student. Domestic students qualify based on an early admission average of 85% or higher. International students are eligible based on academic merit. If you are a student from Newfoundland and Labrador attending the College Transfer Program at the College of the North Atlantic, you can request in writing to defer this scholarship to fall 2027. You can also hold this award if you enroll in a degree-leading program at the Marine Institute.
