About this award

You can receive an annual cash award valued at $500. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a student in the Early Childhood Education program who has a natural nurturing care for children and strong academic skills. You must apply by December 15th. When you apply, ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) how and when you will hear back — whether by email, phone, or through the student portal. Selection criteria aren't published — ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be returning for the second year of the Early Childhood Education program at any RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) campus. You must maintain a full-time course load (defined as 60% or more). The school looks for students who demonstrate academic skill and a natural nurturing care for children. Your financial need and overall academic progress will also be considered.

Tips for applying

• Care LetterAvoid writing a generic letter about why you need money. Instead, tell a specific story that shows your natural nurturing care for children. Describe a real moment where your care made a difference for a child.
• PracticumAvoid submitting a blank or incomplete feedback form. Instead, ensure your practicum supervisor provides detailed comments on your performance. Check that the form is signed and dated before you upload it.
• StrategyAvoid forgetting to label your application. Instead, clearly write the name of the award on your application form as requested. This ensures your file goes to the right committee.
• RealismAvoid assuming that high grades alone guarantee the award. Instead, remember that this scholarship balances academic skill with personality traits and financial need. Focus your letter on the "nurturing" aspect of the criteria.
