What you will need

About this award

The Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University pools its entrance scholarships into one application. You submit it once and are considered for every award you qualify for. Covered programs are Bachelor of Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, and Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences. Values on the page run from $1,000 to $35,000 a year, and the page quotes some awards per year and others as a total, so compare carefully. The largest are renewable over four years: the McMaster University Award of Excellence at $35,000 a year for four years, and the Schulich Leader Scholarship at $120,000 in total ($30,000 a year for four years). The automatic awards depend only on your admissions average meeting a program-specific threshold. The Enbridge BlackNorth award specifically supports students who identify as Black.

Who qualifies

You must be a high school applicant entering Level 1 directly into a Faculty of Engineering program. Current university or college students do not qualify. Most named scholarships require an admissions average of 90% or higher; the Dean's Excellence Entrance Scholarship typically requires 94%; the automatic awards require 90% (Bachelor of Technology streams), 97% (Computer Science and Engineering), or 98% (Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences). The Award of Excellence and the three $10,000 one-time international scholarships are for students enrolled full-time in the Fall term and paying international tuition fees. The Dean's Global Distinction Award is a renewable award for international students; ten are reserved for students from the Caribbean who are enrolled full-time in the Fall term and paying international tuition fees. The Enbridge BlackNorth award is for Level 1 students who identify as Black. The DECA Alumni and FIRST Alumni awards each require documented involvement in that named organization.
