About this award
You can receive a $3,000 award for your studies. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are pursuing a career in the aviation industry, such as training to be a pilot, engineer, or flight attendant. You must submit your application through the portal by May 31 at 11:59 PM MT. The portal opens every spring on April 2 at 12:01 AM MT. You will likely hear back and receive your funding in mid-to-late July. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Yellowknife Community Foundation how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask Yellowknife Community Foundation during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Yellowknife Community Foundation whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
Who qualifies
You must be a resident of the Northwest Territories or Nunavut for at least the last 2 consecutive years. You must also be pursuing post-secondary studies in the aviation industry, for example, as a pilot, engineer, or flight attendant.

- RealismAvoid assuming this is a guaranteed annual payment. Instead, treat this as a single-cycle opportunity until you confirm otherwise. Check the Yellowknife Community Foundation website each spring to see if you can apply again.
