About this award

You can receive a scholarship of $1,000. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are pursuing a career in business and are starting or staying in your studies at Red River College. You must apply by 11:59 p.m. on the second Friday in May each year. When you apply, ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or a student portal. Selection criteria aren't published — ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Tips for applying

• EssayAvoid writing a generic paper about why you want a scholarship. Instead, connect your personal goals directly to the business industry. Use a specific example of a business problem you want to solve.
• ReferencesAvoid using a family member or friend as a referee. Instead, choose a teacher or a former boss who can speak to your work ethic. Ask them to highlight your reliability and leadership skills.
• StrategyAvoid waiting until the last minute to check the Red River Exhibition website. Instead, gather your proof of education and acceptance letters early. Set a calendar alert for the second Friday in May.
• RealismAvoid assuming that being in the program makes you a guaranteed winner. Instead, treat the essay and reference letter as your primary way to stand out. Focus on showing your passion for business administration.
