You can receive a $1,000 bursary. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. This is for you if you are a mature learner returning to post-secondary education after a significant break from high school. There are two deadlines. Apply by October 15th if you are in a fall or spring start program. Apply by February 15th if you are in a winter start program. Note that you can only use the February deadline if you were not a full-time student in the fall term or if your classes started after October 15th. Ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) how and when you will be notified of the result. Selection is based on your financial need. Selection criteria aren't published — ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) how they assess financial need and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic) whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
You must be a full-time student enrolled in a regular full-time certificate, diploma or degree program at RRC Polytech (Red River College Polytechnic). To qualify as a mature student, you must not have been a regular full-time high school student for a period of five or more years before starting your current program. You cannot receive this award if you also receive an RRC Polytech Single-parent Student and/or Parent Student bursary or an RRC Polytech Bridging Bursary in the same academic year.
