About this award

You can receive a $2,500 grant, which is not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. There are 5 versions of this award available across different campuses and programs. This is for you if you are a first-year engineering technology student who balances strong grades with financial need and clear professional ambitions. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, the portal, or phone. Selection is based on a weighted system: 40% for your academic average, 40% for financial need, and 20% for your career goals. Selection criteria aren't published beyond these weights — ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be in Year 1 of one of these programs: Mechanical Engineering Technology (Saskatoon Campus), Instrumentation Engineering Technology (Saskatoon Campus), Power Engineering Technology (Saskatoon Campus), Civil Engineering Technologies (Moose Jaw Campus), or Electrical Engineering Technology (Moose Jaw Campus). You need an average of 70% or above based on your last completed year of study. At least 50% of the awards will be presented to self-declared diversity applicants, which includes people of Indigenous ancestry, members of visible minority groups, people with disabilities, and women interested in trades and technology.
